In August 2011, the Richland Center Fire Department donated their Light Rescue 715 van to the Western Richland County First Responders to use as a emergency response vehicle. The First Responders will use the van to transport personnel and medical equipment to the scene of medical emergencies. The Western Richland County First Responders is a volunteer first responder organization that serves residents in Dayton, Akan, Marshall, Sylvan townships, as well as the village of Boaz. First Responders work in cooperation with local ambulance services to provide initial care and patient reports. Richland Center Fire Department purchased a used rescue truck to replace 715.
