A resident returning home late at night to their appartment building noticed an odor that resembled something burning prompting a call for the fire department. Firefighters were paged on July 14, 2011 at aproximately 1:45 a.m. to a multi unit appartment building on East Haseltine Street in the City of Richland Center. Engine 705 and Squad 708 responded to the scene and a search of all units found burned food that had been left on a stove in one of the units. The smoke from the food had left an odor that was detected in some of the other units in the building prompting the call. There was no actual fire. 21 firefighters responded to the call and returned to the station without incident. The Richland Center Police Department, and the Fire Explorers assisted at the scene.
