New Brush Truck 712 Press Release | February 14, 2011
The Richland Center Fire Department recently took delivery of a new 2011 model year Chevrolet 3500 HD (1 ton) cab/chassis to replace the 1977 Brush Truck 712. The new unit has a 6 liter GM gasoline engine. The truck was ordered without a box and will be sent to a local company to have a custom body built that will allow for space to carry equipment. The tank and pump will be installed by members of the department after the body is built. The components for the fire suppression unit (pump, tank, and reels) were purchased by the Fire Department in 2010 with the aid of a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Department members will also install the emergency lighting and siren on the unit. Once assembled and in service, the new unit will become the front line brush truck with the current front line unit Brush Truck 711 moving to the second out brush truck. The old brush truck 712 will be sold.
