Natural Gas Line Incident – Kwik Trip East

Natural Gas Line Incident – Kwik Trip East

Firefighters were paged to respond to a natural gas line that had been struck by a large drill on Friday September 25, 2015 at approximately noon. The Richland County Highway Department was working on drilling concrete in front of the Kwik Trip on US Hwy 14 East when the truck mounted auger style drill slipped and poked a hole in the gas line. Firefighters isolated the area, closing a few of the close businesses and controlled traffic on the highway until WE Energies, the owner of the gas line was able to isolate and stop the leak. The Richland Center Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Richland County Emergency Management, City Utilities, and WE Energies all assisted at the scene. Fire units were on the scene for approximately 2 hours. There were no injuries reported.
