A landowner burning yard and garden debris lost control of the burn he was conducting and called the Richland Center Fire Department for help. 23 firefighters responded to the scene with Brush Trucks 712 and 711, Engine 705, Tanker 704, Squad 708, Utility 718, and ATV 719. The State of Wisconsin DNR unit stationed in Richland Center was also on the scene, along with Explorers from the RCFD. The fire was extinguished in a short time much to the relief of the landowner. Firefighters wish to remind people that although burning permits were not required at the time of this blaze, fire conditions without snow cover are at a dangerous point and caution should always be used when burning outdoors. The call came in on December 11, 2011 at approximately 11:55 am, and fire units returned to the station in about an hour.
