A neighbor that observed heavy smoke that appeared to be coming from an apartment complex on West Seminary Street in the City of Richland Center called for help sending firefighters to the Brookview Townhouses at aproximately 4:50 p.m. on April 12, 2011. Firefighters responded with Engine 705 and Squad 708 with other units held at the station after it was found that the cause of the smoke was a resident of the complex who was grilling some brats on his outdoor grill. The grill was a safe distance from the building and the 22 firefighters who responded to the call along with the fire explorers all returned to the station without incident.
