Burn Awareness Week 2016

This week is Burn Awareness Week, observed the first full week in February. Each year, over 450,000 burn injuries occur in the United States that are serious enough to require medical treatment.Between 2007 and 2013, the proportion of burn center admissions due to scald burns increased from 29.8% to 33.7%. If someone is burned, follow these four important steps:
1 – Call 911 immediately.
2 – Cool the burn with cool water until the ambulance arrives.
3 – Never use grease, butter, or ointments on a burn.
4 – Don’t remove clothing from the burn.
