Automatic Alarm – Richland Hospital

A maintenance worker with a shop vac who was cleaning drywall dust was the cause of an alarm call to the Richland Hospital in the City of Richland Center. The call came in at aproximately 1:50 p.m. on June 20th. Dust was stirred up and entered a smoke detector causing the alarm. There was no fire and the detector was cleaned out by hospital staff. The 17 firefighters that responded to the call were held at the station as the first ariving officer relayed the cause of the problem. The Richland Center Police Department also responded to the call.
