At approximately 7:10 pm on December 2, 2011 a vehicle that had stopped along the side of Highway 56 in the area of Bell Hollow to remove a hay bale that had fallen onto the highway was struck by a passing motorist. Firefighters from the Richland Center Fire Department along with Richland County EMS, and The Richland County Sheriff”s Department were all sent to the scene of the crash. Relatively minor injuries were reported to some of the occupants of the vehicles. Firefighters cleared the roadway of debris and assisted with traffic control while the accident was investigated. Assistance was also provided to EMS in loading their patients. Firefighters responded with Rescue 706 and Engine 705.
