The Richland Center Fire Department was notified of a carbon monoxide alarm that was going off in a private residence in the City of Richland Center. Upon arrival at the scene responding personnel used gas meters and performed a walk through of the residence and found no problems. The owner was advised to replace the batteries in the detector. Personnel were on scene for less than thirty minutes. Firefighters wish to remind all residents that with the winter heating season being right around the corner this is a good time to have your furnace inspected to be sure it is operating safely. Having a carbon monoxide detector in your home is a vital piece of life saving equipment and provides early warning to issues related to incomplete combustion of fuels from fossil burning appliances
