A family traveling from Westby to the zoo in Madison noticed the passenger compartment of their vehicle filling with smoke and pulled into the Dragon Buffet parking lot where everyone was able to safely exit the vehicle. Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 10:00 am on August 26, 2015 but were advised by law enforcement officers who were first to arrive that the fire was out. Engine 705 and its crew continued to the scene and found the vehicles exhaust had a hole in it allowing hot exhaust to heat up the under carriage of the vehicle and create the floor mats to smolder. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven to a local service garage for repairs.
