A single vehicle accident in the West bound lane of the Highway 14 Bypass behind Schriber Foods was the cause of a call for the Richland Center Fire Department Duty Crew. A mini van traveling West on the highway left the roadway and struck a pole that held an overhead traffic lane information sign causing the pole to tip over, and causing severe damage to the vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene with Rescue 706, Engine 705, and Brush 711. The jaws of life were used to free the driver of the vehicle, and the driver and her passengers were transported to the Richland Hospital by Richland County EMS. Both West bound lanes were closed to traffic for a short time. The Richland Center Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the City Electric Utility assisted at the scene.
