On September 1, 2015, at approximately 11 am, firefighters were paged for the report of a house on fire with someone trapped inside. The location of the call was County N in Ithaca Township. Firefighters responded with Engine 705, Tenders 704, 707, and 714, Utility 718, and Squad 715. Prior to arrival on scene, information was updated that the house was not on fire but had exploded and that all people were out of the house. Responding fire units found that the house had major structure damage due to a gas explosion. A few small hot spots were extinguished and the scene was made safe. One adult male was transported to the Richland Hospital by Richland County EMS and then flown to UW Madison for treatment of his injuries. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Alliant Energies also assisted at the scene.
