Grass Fire – County U

At 6:35 pm on October 4, 2010 The Richland Center Fire Department was paged to a grass fire that was out of control in Akan Township of Richland County. Upon Arrival firefighters found a hillside on fire caused by embers from an outdoor burn barrel. No structures were threatened and aproximately 1 acre of grass and woods were burned. Firefighters extinguished the fire using water from brush trucks 711 and 712, as well as tanker 704. Engine 705 and Rescue 715 were returned to the station upon their arrival so members could participate in regularly scheduled training that night. The 32 firefighters that responded to the call all returned to the station in about an hour, and were assisted on scene by the Wisconsin DNR.
