2 Vehicle Accident – US 14 East & Hwy 58

On September 30th, 2011, at approximately 12:35 pm the Richland Center Fire Department Duty Crew was paged for a 2 vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of US Hwy 14 East and Hwy 58, in Section 36 of Richland Township. Firefighters responded with Rescue 706, Engine 705, and Squad 715. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters immediately started extrication on the occupant on a passenger car that had been involved in the accident with a milk truck traveling East on Highway 14. The individual was transported to the Richland Hospital by Richland County EMS once freed from the vehicle. Firefighters also set up a traffic control system to divert traffic around the scene while it was investigated and later cleared debris from the highway. 20 firefighters responded to the call for help and were on the scene for about an hour. The Richland Center Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Richland County EMS, and Ithaca First Responders all were on the scene. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a local towing company and the milk truck was driven away.
